Road trips are the equivalent of human wings. Ask me to go on one, anywhere. We'll stop in every small town and learn the history and stories, feel the ground and capture the spirit. Then we'll turn it into our own story that will live inside our history to carry with us, always. Because stories are more important than things. ~ Victoria Erickson
I've helped form a friendship where both of us have withstood many ups and downs in our lives. Photography has made the bond we've shared even closer and this quote I found about road trips just about sums it up.
I believe we've both spread our wings with this - discovered things about ourselves we didn't know were there and pointed out some in each other. I'm sure my eyes light up when the text comes in asking if I'm ready for a road trip! We stop in small towns, we stop for horses, we stop for abandoned buildings...we stop for just about anything that catches our eye. We can drive down a familiar road many times and are still amazed to "discover" some building that we're SURE we've never seen before! Anyone else like that? 🤔😂 Then turn it into our own story we certainly do - every trip has tales to tell, laughter to share, tears to share and learning which roads we should probably never venture down again. (I still swear there was a gunshot in the one field we were getting too close to a barn in). 😳
Stories are definitely more important than things.
